I believe we can and should coexist with wildlife and that they fear us just as we fear them to varying degrees. However, I also know that there is only so much we can understand of one another…I mean we have trouble completely understanding our own species…and therein lies the unpredictability.

Treadwell spent years among the bears. They tolerated his presence and he swam in theirs. And then came a new member, an older and starved male. The complete truth behind the feelings of the bear was not and could not have been revealed but we know that part of the truth was that the bear wanted to eat Treadwell.

The bear got what he wanted and, sadly, it was all caught on film…at least the screams were. Treadwell had also brought in his partner so she could see first hand the work he was doing with the bears. He wanted to share his message with her the way he hoped to share it with the rest of the world. She was eaten, too. The movie triggered mixed emotions in me. I thought the baby talk Treadwell used to communicate with the bears was highly annoying.

It was even more annoying when I watched it nearly a decade later. However, I really did think Treadwell would succeed in getting his message to the public. Or rather, his approach to everything lacked scientific methodology. Because of this and his abandonment of the understanding that bears and humans can only understand so much of one another, is what caused his message to become twisted.

I felt bad for him…for the loss of his message and the loss of his life. It seems like people have mixed feelings, just as I had. The theory is that the bear was so starved, while other bears were in hibernation, that Treadwell was the most opportunistic meal.

It makes sense. However, to others, it was still seen as a matter of time before one of the other bears ate Treadwell and his partner.

Because the movie was such a hit, though, the shock of the events spread wide enough to raise awareness about the bears in their natural habitat. There was definitely an impact, positive or negative, after the screening of this documentary.

Here was someone who did what others only dream of…he lived with the bears. I believe Grizzly Man was productive in that it made people think. Most wildlife documentaries involve a person or people filming wildlife from a distance. People could see what it was like to be up close and personal with the bears without sacrificing their own well-being.

And, because of the film, people really began to question the well-being of the bears and whether they were really misunderstood the way Treadwell thought they were. But thought processing is a pretty powerful event. Parody news definitely has a place in the information line as well as entertainment. She also mentions that it has a real voice in American politics through acting as a Fifth Estate keeping the Fourth Estate real news in check. People also tend to take in news in a more comical setting because the real thing is often depressing.

In other words, something will be said about reality in a way that makes people think and that is presented in a very ironic manner. Already, there is irony in both statements, with special emphasis on the last. Stephen Colbert touches on that in his testimony when he is finally in serious mode. I agree with Sotos that many people, especially here in America, get their news from parody news shows. In hard news, there is little room to think constructively because not much is presented in a constructive manner.

By working under the tag of constructive irony, Americans are able to become aware and mentally active through watching parody news. Sotos mentions that the Founding fathers were revolutionaries who even supported the idea of a revamping of the government each generation to fit the needs at hand. Maybe the growing presence and interest in parody news is the catalyst for such action.

As mentioned, even the youth who have been historically apathetic are beginning to pay more attention to the world around them due to shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Indie Game is a film that takes a look at what goes on behind the scenes during the production of an indie game.

These games, unlike the mainstream games produced by companies like Microsoft, Apple, EA, and other major groups, have their own separate sources of funding and more freedom surrounding the content of what they want to feature in their games.

This means I actually dreamt about the film and created my own endings which turned out to be similar to the actual film. Overall, the tone of the documentary is lightly intense. The people who filmed it did a great job of putting a lot of focus on the real emotion behind the small teams working on Super Meat Boy and FEZ. Because it is a documentary, there is little predictability. Sometimes there are tears.

The start of the film is thus really good in grabbing the interest immediately, or at least my interest was grabbed. Most documentaries usually lose my interest pretty quickly. I am the stereotypical adult with an attention span no longer than 2 minutes…and more often on the 15 second side of things. Super Meat Boy is a game about a skinless boy attempting to rescue his bandage girlfriend from Dr.

This is in contrast to another game brought up in the documentary titled FEZ. FEZ had been in production for nearly 4 years before release, compared to the nearly 2 of Super Meat Boy. Both teams put in equally difficult work with FEZ being completely redone 3 times due to intense focus on pixelation by one of the team members.

Overview A young man sets out on a quest to save his childhood friend who has been kidnapped and locked in a prison. I do know friends who play them, though, and they are some of the sweetest people I know.

I think video games can only influence people as much as they allow them to and, sadly, children are oftentimes the most easily convinced of what is right or wrong through the media.

My favourite game to this day is Legend of the Dragoon. The story line is amazing. It follows this young guy named Dart and his journey that started off as freeing the girl he loves and ended up in saving the world in the midst of a battle between Winglies, Humans, and a dark overlord bent on bringing endless destruction.

The battle scenes were turn-base, meaning you strike the foe and then the foe strikes after your turn is complete. It was one of the last games released on the Playstation so the graphics were pretty good, especially combat graphics…albeit pixelated.

I never really thought of the game as violent or influential on my life in any way besides my desire to live in the fantasy world. I would go to sleep hoping to dream of such a beautiful place and being able to fight alongside companion Dragoons.

But then again, this game was nowhere near as realistic as the games we play today. The last game I played religiously was Battlefield 4. I played this game with my father for a few weeks before we turned away from it and returned to playing Guild Wars 2. Battlefield 4 is meant to be an imaginary battlefield in which opposing teams kill one another to win the match.

The team with the most flags in the end wins. However, by no means does this mean the game is now creating battle ready individuals who are hoping to go out into the streets tomorrow and gun down people. Therein lies the disconnect. And, on top of it all, it becomes like target practice because of that disconnect.
